I didn't have much of a problem finding a new 6v battery here in western WV. Two major chain auto parts stores carried them. Western Auto had it cheap($37), but it was only 535 amps. Auto Value had it expensive($70+!), and it was 735 amps. A local place deals in all sorts of batteries, including specialized batteries for industry, and they stocked a 6v rated at 835 amps for $50. I took 'em up on it. The tough thing to find for me was a fully automatic charger, reasonably priced, that automatically charged 6v batteries! I found a Schumacher for $65. The cheapest Sears had was close to $80, and all the others either didn't carry it or wanted over $100.
