Very, very carefully keep going around and pry it up using twisting motion with medium sized flat screwdriver. Now be very careful when you are reassembling new lens. There is a very this white gasket in there. If this isn't exactly on the tach housing, the needle will hit it and won't go through the entire range, (Don't ask). Suggest you tack glue that gasket in the exact correct position, let it dry before reassembling the lens and ring.
Now is the time to set or reset the hours that you want showing also. Incredible how similar they are to the speedometers in the Fords, 1946 to 1951. DO NOT hammer on the ring when reinstalling. Use large Carpenter wood clamps. Or the pistol grip type with the rubber faces.
