300U Sleeves

Upon finding a PS unit from Charlie, I am about to bring my dad's old 300U in the shop for a complete rebuild/restore.
I redid the TA and hydraulic system awhile back.
I want to put a set of 350U sleeves and pistons in the engine.
Without buying an expensive sleeve puller, what is the best way to get the old sleeves out?
I have a friend who said to use a piece of all thread and a cut piece of metal.
Any ideas?
