"The Right Stuff" is intended more for a gasket replacement I think, but it works great as a sealer in addition to a gasket also. Just use a very light smear when applying it to a gasket. The nice thing about using it in conjunction to a gasket is that gasket removal is easier. No chipping and chopping. Copper Coat is my preference as a gasket sealer when the mating surfaces are even. It too is easier to remove than some sealers.
When used properly as a gasket replacement, "The Right Stuff" blows the doors off any silicon product like RTV, be it copper, blue, black or otherwise. I very seldom use rocker arm cover gaskets any more. I clean the surface with a wire wheel and follow up with laquer thinner then put a bead of The Right Stuff on the cover. After it has skinned over (about ten minutes) I set the covers on a flat oily surface to allow the bead to flaten out and leave them for several hours, often overnight. After installation, the covers can be removed and reinstalled several times without having to redo the Right Stuff gasket.
Of course what works for one person may not find favour with another.
