I have started looking for a Cub with a belly mower and turf tires recently myself. I have a Farmall A, but the wife is worried my Ag tires will dig up our newly created lawn (building a new house). She also really likes the cuteness of the Cub. That cuteness factor is the problem with regards to the price. As the other posts mentioned, you could get a more useful tractor for less money. I have recently seen a 140 and an H in the local paper for $1,500 each. Good luck finding a decent Cub for that price.

A restored Cub with turf tires and a belly mower recently sold for $2,600 near my home of Rochester, NY. I was too slow to get this "good deal". I emailed the guy when I saw the ad. He told me later that a couple called from Ohio an hour after he got my email (3 pm). They drove all the way from Ohio, bought the tractor, and trailered it home during the night.

A John Deere dealer has a Cub with turf tires and a sickle bar mower, but without hydraulics for $1,700. The poor girl is pretty beat though. She would not start when I went out to look at her and the tractor is very rusted and leaking fluids from every joint.

A local guy is trying to sell a bunch of tractors that it looks like he bought from an auction. One of them is a Cub. This one has hydraulics and a few cultivators. He wants $2,000 for it. She is pretty banged up and also leaking fluid from every seal.

The ATIS board lists many Cubs for sale. The prices there are out of sight - some over $4,000!

It almost makes you think you should buy a lawn tractor instead of having the joy of cutting the lawn with a piece of history.

Good luck on your quest. My next step is to post a WANTED ad in the local paper to see what I can turn up.
