chains work very good(tractor supply), i went up a fairly steep incline w 8 inchs of snow about a week ago and they dug in and got me up!
even if the chains fall between they still do help bite in and give you traction...hey thanks for info on the pin! thats exactly what i was doing yesterday, i was adjusting my brakes and went to lift the rear with the fast hitch and just thought that pin had fallen out? so i stuck a 1/2 in extension in there just to raise the back to do my adjustment on the brakes....
