Don't know about the running before removing, never tried. If you made a puller something like I mentioned in another post. Made my slider so heavy its a pain to hold it with one hand and run the bolts down in the body by myself. also the rods long enough to get the full stroke of the arms. Even that heavy there's been a few I thought the head or body would crack before they came out. Most I removed take 1 to 5 strokes. If they don't even move after a few, there in there. Tip for the bad ones the plate needs to be heavy enough to stay flate or you take the chance of bending the ears on the body. If needed I run a tap through the body threads and use good grade bolts with a full thread in the body. to snug plate down.
