My comments may be a bit dated, but we had to deal with that problem on a daily basis at the last Deere dealership I worked at. Installed valve-head height is critical and refacing valves and grinding seats puts them out of spec. So, back around 1990, we searched around and compared new valves and thicknesses. Found out that TRW valves had much thicker heads then most the rest. So, we fixed many using those TRW valves and avoided cutting the heads for seat inserts - or planing the heads to regain valve height. Deere allowed planing a head up to .060" and sometimes we did it.

Can't say if TRW still makes them that way, or not.
