I put 4 1/8" pistons in my SMTA a couple years ago. The block didn't need bored but he's talking about putting 4 1/8" in an M block. The M block will need bored for that. Original pistons for an M were 3 7/8" and the over size piston for them was 4". SMs were 4" with the oversize being 4 1/8".
Back in the day some guys put 4 1/8" pistons in an M block by not using a sleeve and just honing the cylinder walls really good. That was considered the last overhaul.
