Pull off one of the plug wires and hold it about 1/4" away from plug while someone makes an attempt to start the engine. Don't forget to have the kill switch in the run position.
You should have a hot blue spark from your plug wire every time that cylinder fires. If that looks ok check to make sure your plug wires are in the correct firing order on the cap as this: 2-1 Rotor rotates CW. 4-3
Pull No1 sparkplug near the radiator and hold your thumb over the plug hole and bring No1 piston to TDC on the compression stroke. You will need a helper. Once No1 is at TDC remove the cap on the mag and see where your rotor is pointing. If its not at your No1 plug tower your mag is out of time.
Don't forget your plug wires are not installed on the cap in the 1,2,3,4 order. They need to go to their corresponding plug from the cap to the correct plug in the sequence shown above once you're at TDC. Hold you hand over the throat of the carburetor and see how much suction you have. If there's not much suction that means you have low intake manifold vacuum.
