I took two of the bolts out, Threaded 2 pieces of all-thread and nuts into the two opposite holes on the belly pump of my M and backed the nuts off one at a time to lower it down. Worked fine. If you have a floor jack, the all thread can be used as a guide, and speed the process up. I seem to recall that the pump input shaft seal is more leakage prone than the gasket is. I know mine has a little leak that needs addressing...
