I believe the manual specifically states not to use kerosene. So diesal wouldn't be advised either. In my SC I cleaned the screen and filled with generic Hytran equivilent and ran till hot and then changed it again. It looks good now. It doesn't take much, not over 3-4 quarts in mine. In my Super H I changed and replaced 3 times, a couple hours operating time between changes, till the fluid looked clean.
