I know of a few guys that have done them with Cubs and i did it with a Massey 44 years ago and none of them were satisfactory at charging them. Heck the generator only charges a few amps at WOT on 6v, put the 8v in there and its even worse. Generally what i see when people put in a 8v battery there wiring system is poor ie incorrect wire gauge and or bad wires themselves. With correct wires and good connections there is nothing wrong with the 6v. Everything just has to be 100% This is what i have encountered with the 8v batteries, i know that some generators with the adjustable 3 brush will charge them well, i have yet to have one with this type, or know someone that have done it.
