I've got a 340 farmall that I would like to put power steering on. Seems that this tractor came with an optional in-column torque generating unit and either a transmission or cam driven pump. As I understand it the "unit" bolts below the steering wheel and aids in turning the steering column and is not connected to a cylinder at all. Is this correct? My repair manual lumps the 340 farmall in with the 504. Does anyone know if these are interchangable? I'm having trouble finding the parts from a 340 and am guessing there are more 504 out there with PS than 340s. I know there are lots of PS options involving char-lynn units, weld on cylinders and paste on pumps out of old mazdas but its a sweet tractor and I'd love to keep it origional. Any information anyone has would be much appreciated.
