The "flat extension" will just come right off. Not cutting required, it is a "loose slip fit" ;) They made the rings changeable so you could change your dual spacing for the crop ie 30" vs 38" rows
Never screwed with them any other way. I don't think it would really be worth the time bc you can get decent used rims fairly reasonable. It might be worth it if you were looking to run a larger rim for tractor pulling bc 12-14" rims are not so easy to come by. I have been sort of looking for those for a couple years with no major success. At least not a price I am willing to pay.
