I went today too look at the engine my friend had for my Farmall M, he said it was off the tractor and ready to be hauled home. well it wasnt, its still bolted to a somewhat complete M,minus the front end, sheetmetal radiator and rear tires wheels and hubs. So basically the skeleton, but it has nice paint on it and is a newer M. I bought he whole works for 150 bucks delivered 40 miles. Now my question is what is the better way to go, should I putthe crank and bearings from the new tractor into mine or should I put my wide front end and tires on the other one. Mine needs work on the tranny as it has no 4th gear and the rearend clunks, the new one had a cracked head and a cracked sleeve, I need one sleeve and the head from my other tractor as well as my front end and sheet metal. I am really leaning towards changing the front end onto the new tractor instead of changing the crank. Which way do you think I should go? Looking for a serious answer please. I do not need the tractor up and running until mid july when we start hay season, so I have time to do either job...Thanks
