I got the old pump out from the left lower side of the rear end. The gear wheel had been chewed up very badly, with only one complete tooth left on the gear. That would be the pump gear. I reached inside and got all the big pieces and then used a magnet to get the smaller pieces. The guy who checked out the replacement pump I got, told me to go to some extraordinary measures to make very sure there were no more shavings in the rear end as these piston pumps are very unforgiving of foriegn matter. And I don't want to replace another one any time soon. Question: What would be the procedure for getting the most shavings out of the system? Of course, changing the filters very often but what else can I do?
