Like ltf said, is probably the glow plugs. Dad's 560 was hard starting for awhile... only 3/6 were good. A new set and Dad can't believe the difference. Also like ltf said, make sure you have fuel to the injectors.
If you have one around, a good hill makes a decent substitute for the glow plugs.
Used one many times to fire up Dad's 560...of course you need another runner to drag the 560 to the hill!
