Due to the fact that the modern software used by YT doesn't bring former subjects to the front with new posts......I thought I'd let you fellers that responded to me previously, know that I did indeed, get the old C started.
I removed the valve cover and found a valve stuck on both #1 and #2 cylinders. A judicious tap with a plastic mallet and they popped free. I pulled the two push rods to see if they were bent....but they were fine.
When the starter rod was yanked, the engine fired right up! Yeah....it smoked like a freight train until the oil squirted in the cylinders burned off and then it cleared up and ran like sewing machine.
The TC unit refuses to respond......I'll have to dig into that critter next. The alternator was froze up and it will get replaced too. The starter is off to be overhauled. The front tires are off for new tubes and I'm waiting on a carb kit to get here. Nothing has helped it's ugly though......the paint is faded pink as the Panther and peeling all over....and the seat spring is gone.
The tractor has 4 new tires and new rear rims......well OK, they were new 3 or 4 years ago when it was parked, but have seen so little use the little nubbins are still on them between the cleats. I cannot understand why anybody would buy 4 new tires....the rears are Firestones and new rear rims......and then park the tractor because the starter quit working! I feel like I bought one of the tires and they gave me the tractor.....hehe!
