I may be way off base here but I remember seeing a safety video once on how a tractor's front end will rise up if the load it's trying to pull is attached too high. The advice was to always pull with the drawbar, and the drawbar had to be mounted lower than the center of the rear wheels. The idea is that if the load pulls back from near the top of the tractor (or anywhere above the rear axle), while the wheels push forward from low down in the tractor, the combination of the wheels pushing down low and the load pulling up high will rotate the tractor, lifting the front end. I don't pull, and you probably already knew that, but I thought I'd share it in case you didn't.
