Make sure all glow plugs are working as previously sugested and make sure the injection pump is correctly timed also it would not hurt to do a complete valve adjustment on the engine it would also be to your advantage to do a compression test. It's also possible that the injectors need rebuilt. If they dont spray properly at the specific breaking point the fuel will not atomize properly.
