H Fenders

Can fenders from a 300 fit an H? They appear to be a different shape but have the similar braket for mounting. Also, do they fit right on top of the axle or is there a spacer of some kind that is used between the bracket and the axle? Finally, what size bolts do the fenders take? My parts book says 1/2" X 2 1/4" but that seems pretty large. Tractor is 250 miles away so can not measure it. Thanks.
