I just rebuild a c135 engine last month so this is fresh in my memory. To answer your specific question, yes, you can replace the rear main bearing while the crank is still in the engine. The back bottom plate of the the engine block (the part that the back of oil pan bolts to) needs to be removed first in order to get access to the bearings. You need to take off the 3 bolts on that back plate. They are accessible after you remove the 2 bolts holding on the bell housing cover plate. The 3 bolts will back out and just clear the flywheel(unless some joker put longer longer ones in!) Then you can remove the back plate and gain access to the rear bearing. I"m not saying you should replace the bearings while in the engine, just saying it can be done. Pete
