Seth - I highly recommend you use a regulator instead of a cutout on your conversion (your battery will thank you later!) You can get a saddle-mount regulator that fits on the generator case in place of the current cutout.
You can re-use the existing 4-position light switch. Only difference is with a voltage regulator installed the switch's L and H positions simply become two "off" positions for the lights.
I forget the 12 "correct" volt bulb number for the teardrop lights. But the common 1156 backup/turn signal bulb fits and works fine.
