For basic usage, ie. hauling firewood, parades, etc. I would still go with the mag.
For real farming or pulling, then yup, distributor is the way to go.
It's kind of a toss up really. I'm giving some thought to changing my 1940 H back to a magneto and then eliminating the battery and electric starter. This tractor has a belly mower and does all of the grass cutting, which means I would have to whirl that crank at least once every week, but I have started it with the hand crank before and it's not that hard to do. Just haven't made up my mind yet.
