Dad then bought 684 with T/A and still have the 684. D-239 German Diesel will run for years if the oil and filters are changed regularly. The only down fall is the parking brake. The problem occurs when the Operator fails to release the parking brake and drives the tractor. Since parking brake is inside the rear end and left engaged it will chew up the band and all the bits end up in the hydraulic oil clogging the hydraulic filter and other hydraulic valves. IH tryed to fix the problem on the 95 series tractors by putting a flashing parking brake engaged light on the dash.
Test is engage parking brake on a slope and see if it will hold tractor.
