Old Style Wide Front End

I have two old style WFE ( tie rods out front) one has cast iron outer tube and the other has a steel tube, I assume the cast model is the older of the two. Any body know the years each were offered? I know that on more recent models IHC put the tie rods behind the axle, anybody know what year they changed? If I want the WFE to be on the correct vintage H or M how old of a machine do I need to buy? How about F series? Thanks, Rachet.
