I have recently come into possession of a 1947 IHC tractor which I am told was built originally for orchard and citrus use. All I know at present is that the engine is identical to a "H". It has an incredibly short wheel base, 16.9 x 26" rear rubber, and although this does not have one I understand some of these tractors were equipped with hand clutches. This machine has a flat belt pulley pto and 4 speed transmission. This tractor was nothing I went looking for. I have seen photographs of immaculately restored examples sporting orchard or what some call grove fenders. Undoubtedly these would have to be shop built. Does anyone have any idea where one might find the dimensions needed to do this? By the way, the engine in this tractor was originally designed to burn distalite. Is there any advantage to preserving all the bits and pieces needed to run kerosene, etc. Current cylinder head on this engine has been fitted with hardened exhaust seats to cure the years of wear and allow use of no lead gas. Any info would be appreciated. Thank you.
