Yes it is a rear view mirror, I am not sure what it is for or off of. My grandfather was always running stuff between pieces of land on the road and he installed it, so he could see behind him for traffic, without always having to turn around.
The reason the plow is mounted all the way to one side is because that is how it is supposed to be set-up, If my grandfather had not put the 140 seat on it I would mount both plows on the tractor. What you see in the picture is just one half of the A-189 two way plow set up. There is a set of levers that mount beside the seat, and behind the gear shift that you use to select which plow you want to lower, but with the 140 seat, you cannot mount this. Also if the plow is mounted in the center then the front lift bracket must be running at an angle, and how does your right rear tire run in the open furrow?
