Rhe mags cap shows @1 position for that plug wire. Make a mark with black magic marker on the body of the mag where that tower is. Now remove the cap and wires from the plugs. I like to remove all the plugs so the engine will turn over better. Now with the plugs out put your finger in @1 hole. When you turn the engine over you can see where the rotor lines up and snaps this will tell you if either the mag is off 180degrees or tha rotor gears got changed. On the Cub ya cant see the piston of even find it but turning engine over and watching rotor jump when it fires you can tell if mag is in time as you will be able to see the other positions snapas the mag fires the other three cycl. Thatss the way i do all the little I-H when i get a service call tells me rite now if the fire is in time with TDC last one was a 340 found out the wires were put back on wrong. You never know when someone has changed whatever this way i know i a hurry where to go to fix the problem. If ya still have trouble give me a call 319-430-3907 as always glad to help.
