Make sure the TA shift valve is going all the way down to the snap ring when the TA shift handle is in the forward position (DD). Oftentimes the linkage will wear enough to let the valve stay 1/4" up and it will be losing some pressure. A TA unit will also have seal rings wearing into the housing and let oil escape. The shift may be from the lesser oil flow. Gaskets in the MCV unit can be blown. With pressure up, it may likely have warped plates in DD clutch pack. These can't hold torque. Pull the plug below the TA unit and drop a bit of oil in a clean bucket. Many bits, and black material is a good indicator for a need for TA overhaul.
