Deere did make garden tools in the 70's. They made snowmobiles, ATV's bikes, the list goes on and on. Hitachi cordless drills saws, etc have all been re-branded with Deere in the last couple years. Check the price at a Deere dealer for a cordless drill then goe to Lowes and find the same drill with a Hitachi decal and you will be shocked. Heck, that goof ball company has 'made' bottled water and sold it! Take a trip to the JD Commons and see how much crap they sell. I mean crap too. If you can put a Deere decal on it and charge 75% more for an item they will do it. Because it has a leaping deer it is 30% more in cost of parts. My IH dealer has just as much of a selection of old IH parts as a Deere dealer would have. If you whine about the cost of an IH bearing or spring...go to the Deere dealer. They will make you feel better. Rare or not the Deere's to me are just a high priced novelty.
