Yes. I will state that a float can get particles stuck in the needle and seat while running and flood. Then when run fast, the increased fuel flow will open the float farther, and wash it out into the bowl. I would go there first if it keeps doing it. The battery will run it for hours if charged when first started. If it will restart, the battery is not part of the problem. It is possible for the coil to cause the problem by providing such poor spark due to overheating, that it smokes from unburned fuel. If the original coil is in it, it needs a ballast resistor (from a Chevy of mid 1960 vintage) or a 12v coil for use with no ballast resistor. Cheap at the auto parts store. ~20.00. Jim
