I think some states have made them illegal. Hard to believe, but they're still available here in the land of make-a-law-to-restrict-everything... I hate the strike on box kind too.
Funny related story. Friend was in the woods a horseback with some pack animals. Goin down the trail he started to see smoke coming out from the pack on one of the horses. Got in a big hurry and unloaded the pack. Turns out the half box of strike any-where's had lit themselves from the friction of sliding around with the back-and-forth motion of the horse walking. He remembered to package em so they couldn't slide around from there on out...
