I had a young pup at a national parts chain's new local store REALLY tick me off recently when I asked for four Champion D-21 plugs. He literally could not look them up and asked if I had a part #. I was very patient. He got more frustrated and eventually asked me what they fit, and I gave him the make and model of the tractor. I added that they probably were used in over a hundred different engines for many brands of farm and industrial equipment over a long span of years. He said, "Tractor? Does our sign out front say 'Advance Tractor Parts'"? I turned and left and haven't been in there since.
On the other hand, my local NAPA dealer is an old tractor nut and an all-around good guy, even if he does likes that off-brand (green) stuff . He will go far out of his way to try to get you the right part and at a good price.
