I'm no expert on the hydrostatic drive but it sounds like you have a problem with it. A standard clutch wouldn't act that way. Yours may have the combination hydrostatic drive and clutch plate with the clutch pedel that pushes down as opposed to forward on a car, truck, or regular stick tranny tractor.
Go to caseih.com and search for parts. Put in 2500 for the model and click on the 2500 for north america. Then click on drive train. There are a series of 07- numbers. Look at the diagrams of each and then tell us what you have. 07-04 shows the clutch assembly that goes with the hydrostat unit.
Your hydrostatic unit will have hydraulic lines going into and coming out of it while a standard clutch and stick shift tranny setup will not and the clutch pedal is different. Once you let the guys know what you have, then they can help better. Good luck.
