Hi Ken, I got my C279 black land planter up and working and I too am getting my cultivators hooked up. I planted on 38" rows and have my wheels set at 76" on center. I set up 2-8' 2x4's on the ground 38" apart to simulate the rows. After that it was pretty self explanitory to me what has to be loosened and moved. Between the 2x4's and a tape measure I got it looking good and symetrical. I have the C254 cultivators with the #10 tool bars, full shields and the C-53-C fertilizer units. I have ordered new drive chains and then they will be operational. I got lucky and got the C-254 owners manual with the tractor. On the front frames I created alot of extra work for myself by not getting the tool bars close 1st and then moving the shanks. There's a tip there:) Also leave enough adjustment so that you can be very close to the plants when they are small and be able to move the shanks out as the plants grow and the root sytem expands. The back mounted cultivators were already set up for 38" rows on mine. I ended up with alot of extra planter and cultivator parts if you need anything. I also have the front mounted skip row middlebusters that I'm not going to keep. I have a fast hitch on mine and have a set of 3 bottom FH middlebusters.
