I just finished restoring my original 1953 SC this spring although I rebuilt the generator a couple of years ago. My tractor S/N is 180xxx and was original as the day it left the factory except for a repaint of years ago. The voltage regulator is below the generator and the one on my tractor had the 4th wire lug on the back side. The IHC SC parts catalog shows two different styles of regulators for the SC both mounted in this same location. The Delco part no. on the style like on my tractor is 1118308 and for the other style with the 4th lug on the forward side of the VR is 1118780. The parts catalog lists the IHC part no. as 360898R91 being the current one available through CaseIH and the earlier one is 354234R91 if you are seeking a NOS part. The change to the later style regulator was at s/n 190041. Gene mentioned in an earlier reply the need for the part number on your generator - mine is Delco Remy No. 1100501 which is the original 6 volt generator on my tractor. There is no mention of a cutout on Super C tractors in the TC-44B Parts Catalog. Hope this helps, Hal.

What a surprise to open up your first old tractor's air filter case and find a can that appears to be filled with the scrap metal swept from around a machine shop metal lathe. To top that off, you have a cup with oil in it ("why would you want to lubricate your carburetor?"). On closer examination (and some reading in a AC D-14 service manual), I found out that this is a pretty ingenious method of cleaning the air in the tractor's intake tract.
