NOTE instead of a diode one can use EITHER a 10 ohm 10 watt resistor (no worry about polarity) as it also prevents the run on problem PLUS provides some degree of current limiting safety ORRRRRRRRRRR instead one can use a small incandescent idiot light charge indicator to be on when shes NOT charging but off when she is ORRRRRRRRRRRRR use the idiot light in paralell with the current limiting safety resistor so she can still charge should the idiot light burn out.
