Do what you want to. But if it was mine, I would check it. It only takes a few minutes and could save you several hundred $$$. The time it has taken you to decide weather you should do this or not, you could have done it many times over. Put the clay on the piston head and rotate the engine over at least 2 times to open both valves. Go 3 or 4 or more. Bolt it down snug. Rotate it by hand only!!! This won't allow you to break anything. Then check the thickness of the conpressed clay. I wouldn't feel comfortable with less than 1/8".
