Yes there was a muffler as orginal equipment. They were removed as part of the jobber carb setup which almost everybody did. There is a serial number break at #69613. Both the early and late versions also had a California and export separate part which "may be" just a spark arrester. If you can come up with the cast iron casing there was another part number for the baffle pipe inside so you could manufacture that part. There was also a sheetmetal cover for it. I have a 15-30 with the original stuff so I could measure the cover for you if it is the same. If you want it contact me.
