Hey guys,
I started working on an H a couple of years ago and it scared me off ... first time restoration ... could handle the pressure; it was easier to just walk away. It's at that stage now that I'm not sure where all the pieces I've got off of it go. First, I need reasurrance that I can do this. Then tell me what I can expect to find if and when I remove those housings on the inside of each axel (it's got a grease fitting. I'd like to replace the seals inside but I'm kinda worried about what's in there. There looks to be a gasket as well? Also, what about the pto housing? Not the shaft seal itself ... but the housing that bolts to the tractor - that seems to leak a bit - there looks to be a gasket in there? Can I purchase all these gaskets ... or do I need to cut them from gasket material?
This is just the first of MANY questions. My wife has finally gotten upset that the H is in the barn in pices - I've got to get back to work on it. My strategy is to fix all the leaks I can find ... keep removing parts ... paint .. and then start to put the thing back together. Does that sound right?
