Yes, if the VR is grounded, the Bat and GEN terminals act just like a cutout (they are a cutout). A 30 amp diode will also work if connected to the bat wire on one lead, and the Gen wire on the other (eliminates massive stuff) Put it on so it does not conduct with the engine off. A test light does not light when put in series with it and ground. This allows the gen to charge, but the bat isolates from the gen when off. Jim
