I am a rookie at all this and am needing some help distinguishing between some differences in my H parts book and what I've seen also at shows and all. First off, choke rods. There is a part #51763D for tractors 501-70409 (mid '41) and then another part #60840DA for 70410 and up. What is the difference between the two? I have noticed that many things seemed to change between 40 and 41 according to the serial number breaks in my parts book. I have seen "M and MTA" parts books and they tell the length of them, so I can understand 2 different serial numbers for the M. But can anyone tell me any difference on these? Secondly, I have found out wiring harnesses are a pain in the tail end. My tractor (mag style w/ starter) has wires basically stretched out all the way from 1 point to the other and have no path, rime or reason for going anywhere but across the engine, around the fuel tank stud, etc. I know I know, a basket case but you can thank the previous owner. :) Now, at shows and via other parts vendors, I have seen many different types of harnesses when it comes to the wires contained in them. I have seen harnesses with only 2 wires in them, 3 wires (2 wires with a starter lead), and then 3 wires (what they called 2 wires and then the mag to on/off switch wire). I have then seen others offer just the starter lead wire and the kill switch wire alone. I about bought a 2 wire harness in Waukee, IA a few weeks ago but wanted to make sure I got the right one by getting on here and asking. By the way, can anyone tell me about a company named OEM Tractor Parts in IL, whether they are good or not? That is who I was gonna get the harness from. The ones they had there were cloth braded with the colored tracers and all and looked really sharp. But, I don't think it would make the rust bucket look any nicer, maybe only put a little value to it. :) I would greatly appreciate your help and I know I will have more questions and I know where to come.

One of the great things about working on a tractor engine with your other half is that you know what he is thinking of at all times and can anticipate his every move and his next thought of what he will do. With Ben, anyway, I can tell! He'll be busy working and I’m handing him tools and he says, "give me that..." and I’ve already got it in his hand or "hand me that....."and I’ve got the portable light right where he needed it placed to see. "Run in the house and get me a...."as I open th
