I posted yesterday about my new project, a 1940's Farmall A. Anyway, I pulled the head this afternoon. Visually, I don't see anything wrong w/ the block or the head. What I did find was a white silicone on both sides of the head gasket??? It looks like window caulk. Also, all of the head nuts were fairly clean (usually, the ones outside of the valve cover are encased in old grease)...and, non of the bolts were torqued (I broke them all free w/ little effort w/ an open end)...ever the optimist, I have ordered the new top end gasket kit....I'm hoping for the best..."place your bets"..... the new gasket kit should be here mid-week...
...oh, when I pulled the head there was evidence of green antifreze in all cylinders....but, this may have come from the water-jakets when I pulled the head???
