Two part means paint plus hardener. Two stage means base/clear. I have started using base/clear, but only because I have to sand and buff to get rid of the lint, etc that settles in my paint. (probably I am too picky) The clear in the base/clear system is much easier to buff than single stage, at least it is for me. Otherwise there is no real advantage. As to the sheet metal base/clear and the rest single stage, I have done that. There is little or no color difference, the toners (mixing) tints are the same, but they are not in the same ratio, so the possibility of a color difference does exist. The main difference is the stuff in the can that you add the toners to. A perfect color match is not guaranteed, but I have not had that problem so far.
