What loader does it have and what do you want to use it for? No one can give much advice till we know what the use will be
I have a 2606 with backhoe and IH3000 loader. Just like any old tractor, it is slow waiting to shift to keep the gear clash down to a minimum. They don't have synchronizers as far as I know. Have gear clash from the shifter and the forward/reverse lever as well. It has a bad gear in it that makes the forward lever kick out of gear. I attached a bolt with washer on the end through a short piece of rubber hose and double nutted on the panel by the dash. It holds the lever in place so it can't kick out.
I watch for steering and hydraulic issues. Still haven't got my power steering up to snuff yet. My next attempt is to cap off the relief lines to and from the oil cooler once I get it running again.
That 3000 loader with the hoe and back for counter weight will lift 1500# bales all day. And because it is slow shifting and has a slow reverse, it takes all day to move bales around. The loader isn't any good for doing any grade/scraping work as the bucket wants to dig in which is assume is a hydraulic issue. If you have much loader work to do, get a skid steer.

What a surprise to open up your first old tractor's air filter case and find a can that appears to be filled with the scrap metal swept from around a machine shop metal lathe. To top that off, you have a cup with oil in it ("why would you want to lubricate your carburetor?"). On closer examination (and some reading in a AC D-14 service manual), I found out that this is a pretty ingenious method of cleaning the air in the tractor's intake tract.
