James, I had some calcium issues on the rims of my Farmall H which I restored a couple of years ago and I had them sandblasted and coated the inside of the rims with that spray in bedliner material which is really durable but I didn't have any major corrosion issues to deal with. The epoxy primer as noted by Charles will be fine as well. A lot of folks around this part of the country where additional weight is needed for tillage or loader work use the winter time windshield washer fluid which isn't corrosive and won't freeze being about the same weight as water and not very expensive either.
