No you do not need to split the tractor. The transmission driving shaft coupler is bolted on. Remove the bolt and washer, and try to use a pry bar to slide it off. It is a good one inch thick. Once it is off you then unbolt the transmission driving shaft bearing retainer which contains the oil seal. Put it upside down in the workbench and the seal punches out real easy. The retainer gasket behind the retainer may be fine but I usually replace them at the same time. If you have trouble getting the coupler off, you might have to remove the liftall to give yourself more room to make up a puller. I fabricated one for Old Red H. It took 3 hours to get that durn thing off. The transmission counter shaft coupler is screwed on like the liftall one. Put the machine in gear and it comes off counterclockwise. then you unbolt the retainer base and you can swap out that seal and gasket like on the main coupler.
