I have a 1940 A, with a serial number in the 23000's. I am in the process of rebuilding the motor and getting everything fixed up so I can paint it. My air cleaner is painted black, and there is no red paint underneath. Every other A I see has a red air cleaner. Does anyone else with an early A have a black air cleaner or know if mine was replaced at some point in its life? I really prefer it black, along with the carb.
